A 32-year old man was reportedly shot and critically wounded during an attempted robbery in the Port Richmond section of the city early this morning.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said the incident happened on the 3400 block of Gaul Street at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
According to police: the victim had just arrived on the block and exited his vehicle after coming home from work. That was when a white pick-up truck drove up and an unidentified gunman attempted to rob the victim. The gunman jumped back into the passenger side of the truck. The vehicle was last seen heading Northbound on Gaul Street.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterward and found the victim unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck. Police rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition as he awaits surgery.
Police believe the incident may have been captured by nearby surveillance cameras, but no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
