Neighbors of a North Philadelphia neighborhood were welcomed with some free services that likely put smiles on a lot of faces on Friday afternoon/evening.

A report from CBS-3 Philly said the organization “One Day At A Time” (ODAAT) hosted the event at the intersection of 16th & York Streets on Friday. The event included food trucks who were handing out free food for all at the event that was created by Margaret Wells, whose legacy is being kept alive and carried on by her son Mel.
“This location is actually named Margaret Wells Way. That’s my momma’s name……We actually hired 38 people today to do same day work and they will receive $100 apiece”, said President & CEO of One Day At A Time, Mel Wells.
The event offered resume help to those looking for employment opportunities, food trucks, haircuts and styling (by Empowering Cuts), and also housing opportunities. All services were free to the public!
If you missed this one and are looking to volunteer or participate in the next one, ODAAT will be hosting a huge giveaway event right around Christmas time at Dobbins High School in North Philadelphia. More information can be found on their site ODAAT.org
