21-year old, Zhontay Capers was arrested and charged with murder in the killing of 48-year old, Septa Bus Driver, Bernard N. Gribbin, in the Germantown section of the city yesterday.

A report from The Philadelphia Inquirer said Capers was taken into custody hours after the shooting on Thursday afternoon. She was charged with murder and other related crimes overnight.
Philadelphia police believe Capers shot Gribbin after a dispute, but the Septa Transit Police Chief disagrees with Philly Police’s assessment. He said surveillance footage does not show any “substantive interaction” between the shooter and bus driver.
“Literally it occurs without apparent rhyme or reason…For some unknown reason, she began firing as she was exiting the bus”, said SEPTA Transit Police Chief, Charles Lawson.
Capers reportedly reboarded the bus after firing the first shots and fired several more shots before fleeing the scene. A motive for the shooting is still unclear at this time. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
