A bus carrying 12-passengers was reportedly caught in the middle of a shootout that left the driver of the bus wounded in the Olney section of the city this morning.

A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting involving the bus happened less than 2 hours after a man was shot inside of his home, on the same block. Police have not said if the shootings are connected at this time.
Police said a man was shot inside of his home on West Ashdale Street at around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Less than two hours later, shortly before 9:00 a.m. a shooting erupted on the same block. A private bus that was carrying 12 passengers to an adult day care was caught in the crossfire of that shooting.
“It appears there were multiple shooters and there were numerous spent cartridge casings in the area of 2nd & West Ashdale. We have a bus driving transporting members of the elderly community to a place where they can continue to get care and this sort of thing happens. It’s certainly intolerable”, said Philadelphia Police Inspector, D.F. Pace.
Police were two blocks away serving an unrelated bench warrant when the shooting broke out. They ran to the scene where they found a 32-year old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition. The bus driver was also hit by gunfire during the shooting. He was shot in the upper body. The bus driver managed to drive to 9th & Courtland Streets before finding a safe place to pull over. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in stable condition. A possible motive for the shooting was not reported.
None of the passengers on the bus were physically injured. Several schools in the area were placed on lockdown for a short period after the shooting. No suspects were named and no arrests have been made at this time.
