An 11-year old girl was reportedly hit by a stray bullet and injured in the Hunting Park section of the city last night.
A report from 6-ABC Action News said the shooting happened on the 3600 block of North 11th Street at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

Police said the girl was shot one time in the abdomen while crossing the street. She was able to run home after being shot. Her mother rushed her to Temple University Hospital. She was transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital For Children a little later. The child was last reported to be in stable condition.
Police said they believe the shooting actually took place on the 3500 block of 11th Street, about a block away from where the child was struck by a stray bullet.
“It appears that someone was shooting at someone else, we’re not sure who yet, and she was hit by a stray bullet that passed and struck her. An 11-year old should be able to cross the street at 7 p.m. without worrying about being hit by gunfire”, said First Deputy Commissioner, Frank Vanore.
No other injuries were reported. No arrests were reported. An investigation is ongoing.
