A group of as many as 100 juveniles reportedly ransacked and looted multiple stores in Center City last night.
A 6 ABC Action News report said police were notified that a large group of possibly 100 teens were moving through Center City at around 7:30 p.m.
The first incident of looting was reported at the Foot Locker located on the 1500 block of Chestnut Street at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night. A group ran into the store and grabbed items before fleeing. Several juveniles fled the scene. One adult was arrested.
At around 8:12 p.m. officers were called to the Lululemon store located on the 1700 block of Walnut Street for a report of a crowd of people looting the store. Officers reportedly made multiple arrests at the scene.
At around 8:18 p.m. the same thing took place at the Apple Store located on the 1600 block of Walnut Street. No arrests were reported at this location.
“What we had tonight was a bunch of criminal opportunists take advantage of a situation and make an attempt to destroy our city”, said Interim Phila. Police Commissioner, John Stanford.
