More details have been released from the fiery accident involving a car and a Septa Trolley in the Overbrook section of the city last night.

A report from Fox-29 Philly said 19th District police officers on duty in the area witnessed a Dodge Charger hit a Septa Trolley from behind at the intersection of North 59th Street & Lansdowne Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night.
The vehicle caught on fire after the accident with the driver still inside. Police reportedly jumped into action and pulled the victim out of the vehicle through the passenger’s side window before flames engulfed it. The 20-year old victim was rushed to Lankenau Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the trolley was traveling Westbound and had the green light, when the car crashed into its rear. Nine passengers were evacuated from the trolley with no injuries. A mother and several young children with her were taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital Of Philadelphia to be treated for minor injuries. The trolley driver was also treated for a minor injury to the leg. An investigation into the crash continues.
