Two people were reportedly shot and killed during a shooting in North Philadelphia at the 8th & Diamond Playground yesterday.

A 6 ABC Action News report said a 22-year old man and a 24-year old man were both shot in the head. Both victims died at the scene. A 23-year old man was shot in the stomach and a 22-year old man was reportedly shot in the head and leg. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where both were last reported to be in critical condition.
“As tragic as this is, we were lucky we had a bunch of very young children playing in the sidewalk. Thank God none of those children were hit”, said Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner, James Kellly.
Kelly said around 5 shooters came from Darien Street and open fired before speeding away. At least 50-shots were reportedly fired by the assailants. Kelly said he believes the shooting targeted one or several individuals who were in the playground at the time.
“I am horrified by the reports of a quadruple shooting tonight and praying for the victims as well as their families and loved ones. Police are investigating this senseless act of violence. The city offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrests and conviction for shootings near school, recreation center, or library”, Philadelphia Mayor, Jim Kenney said in a written statement.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
