31-year old, Daystar Peterson, A.K.A Tory Lanez, was sentenced to10-years in prison for shooting his then girlfriend, Megan Thee Stallion, in the foot back in 2020, during an argument between the two in Los Angeles.

A report from the New York Times said prosecutors had been asking for a sentence of 13-years behind bars for Lanez, saying he showed no remorse and was “clearly incapable of accepting any responsibility for his own actions.” The prosecutor also read a letter from Megan Thee Stallion that said in part:
“He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma.” Megan said in a written statement. Later in the letter she added “This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence.”
Lanez had been facing at least 22-years in prison after being convicted of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm inside of a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, back in December of 2022. Lanez lawyer, Jose Baez argued that Lanez should be sentenced to time served and probation. In the end, Los Angeles County Superior Judge, David Herriford sentenced Lanez to 10-years in prison and gave him credit for the 305 days he’s already served in jail
