A Fox-29 Philly report said the incident happened near 10th Street & Packer Avenue on Saturday night.

A traffic cop posted at the intersection said he witnessed the 41-year old driver of a Mercedes Benz run a red light right before crashing into a Chevy Equinox being driven by a 39-year old man. The traffic cop attempted to aid both drivers after the crash. That was when the driver of the Mercedes reportedly attempted to flee on foot.

He was quickly apprehended after a brief chase. The 39-year old driver of the Equinox was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in extremely critical condition.

The 41-year old driver of the Mercedes was arrested and charged with suspected DUI and a host of other related charges.
