The 5th crash involving a SEPTA vehicle this week, took place last night in Southwest Philadelphia. This time the crash involved a runaway SEPTA trolley.

A 6 ABC Action News report said the crash happened near Island & Woodland Avenues at around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday night.

SEPTA officials said the trolley was out of service at the time of the crash. There was reportedly a mechanic onboard, but no driver, according to SEPTA Chief Operating Officer, Scott Sauer. The trolley was coming from the SEPTA Elmwood Depot. The trolley reportedly derailed, struck an SUV, and then slammed into the historic home. Two people inside of the SUV were reportedly injured. The woman living inside of the home was not reported to be injured.

The mechanic onboard the trolley was not reported injured. The incident is under investigation.
