An 11-year old girl was injured after being caught in the middle of a shootout between at least two people in West Philadelphia last night.

A 6 ABC Action News report said the shooting happened in the area of 52nd & Chestnut Streets at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Police say the girl was struck in the hip by stray gunfire while shopping at stores that were still open with family.
“We of course believe that since she’s only 11-years old, she was struck by stray gunfire. We believe she was with her mother and other family members when she got shot. They were standing in front of some businesses and stores at the intersection of 52nd & Chestnut Streets”, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
Investigators said they found 30- spent shell casings at the Chestnut Street location, and they reported finding more spent shell casings at 52nd & Market Streets, close to Ludlow Street where another victim was reportedly hit by gunfire.
The 11-year old girl was taken to a nearby hospital where she was last reported to be in stable condition. A 32-year old man was shot in the leg at 52nd & Market Streets. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was also last reported to be in stable condition. A possible motive for the shooting was not reported.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
