12 students at a school in West Philly reportedly drank grape juice mixed with a possible opiod yesterday, after the concoction was given to them by fellow students.

A report from 6 ABC Action News said the incident happened at Crossroads Accelerated Academy located on the 4300 block of Westminster Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Philadelphia School District officials say they believe two students brought the concoction to school and shared it with classmates. Officials said they’ve never dealt with this type of situation before.
This is unacceptable. You do not have a child bringing in an opiod substance on school property….definitely banned from school property. And then to know two students brought it in grape juice? And they passed it around?”, said Spokesperson for the Philadelphia School District, Monique Braxton.
Five students who drank the substance were taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. No word on their conditions were reported. Seven other students who drank it were reportedly at home recovering with their parents. The 12 students were all aged between 12-16 years of age. School officials said all of the children are expected to be alright. An investigation is ongoing.
