A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 7000 block of North 15th Street at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

The alleged robber, reported to be “in his 30’s“, was reportedly shot in the back three times. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after arriving. The victim told police that the deceased man and a woman were sitting inside of a parked car on the block right before the robbery attempt.

“We were also told by the shooter, the perpetrator of the robbery was parked inside a vehicle. There was also a female in that vehicle. We believe the female was with the male who was shot, after the shooting drove the vehicle to [the] 6700 block of North 17th Street. That’s where we found it, parked unattended and riddled with multiple bullet holes”, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.

The weapon used in the shooting has been recovered and the shooter was taken into custody for questioning. He was licensed to carry. No charges have been filed against him at this time. Police said they are looking to speak with the female passenger.
