A minor accident during the morning rush hour reportedly turned into an armed robbery yesterday in Willow Grove, Montgomery County.
A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on Old York Road near Davisville Road at around 7 a.m. on Monday morning.
According to police, the suspect was driving erratically right before the accident.
“The erratic driver pulls in front of the victim, abruptly, basically cuts her off. Immediately after that happens, he comes out of the car, he walks right up to her, he has a handgun, he displays it immediately, he starts screaming at her. She has her cellphone in her hand. She’s attempting to call 911 over the incident. He opens the door and rips the cellphone out of her hand,” said Upper Moreland Police Chief, Andy Block.
The suspect reportedly took off with the victim’s cellphone before getting back into his silver Honda and fleeing the scene. Police say the entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
No serious injuries were reported. No arrests have been made at this time.
