A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened near the ice skating rink at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

According to police investigators, the incident began when a group of people refused to leave the area next to the rink after the security told them the area was closed.

“One of the males, who appeared to be in his 30’s, actually started to argue with the security guard and did not want to leave. The security guard and this individual who didn’t want to leave actually got into a physical altercation and that’s when the perpetrator pulled a gun and fired two shots at the security guard”, said Philadelphia Chief Inspector, Scott Small.

Both shots reportedly missed the uniformed security guard, who was uninjured and unarmed during the shooting. The listed closing time for Dilworth Park is 1 a.m., but the area around the ice rink where the group were standing, closes at 9 p.m.

Police have released surveillance video of the incident, but no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
