39-year old, Jason Shackleford, from Columbia, P.A. is currently in police custody after admitting to raping and killing a 12-year old girl on February 9th of this year, in Columbia P.A.
A Fox-43 P.A. report said Shackleford admitted to raping and killing his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year old daughter at a home on the 500 block of Avenue H in Columbia. Shackleford claimed to have raped the child on the night of February 8th, and into the morning of the 9th, before killing her and attempting to hide the girl’s body inside of a freezer in the basement of the home.
Police found the body of the 12-year old inside of a chest freezer in the basement of the home, after Shackleford’s confession. Police weren’t aware of the child’s body in the basement or Shackleford being a suspect in the child’s murder, when they first encountered him on February 10th. Police had been called to the Wyndham Lancaster Hotel on 2300 Lincoln Highway East, for a report of a domestic disturbance.
When police arrived, Shackleford’s girlfriend told them she had been working the night-shift on February 8th into the 9th. Shackleford had reportedly told her that he’d kidnapped her 12-year old daughter from the home they once shared. The girlfriend said that she was currently going through a breakup with Shackleford.
The girlfriend told police that Shackleford called her at around 7:45 p.m. while she was at work on the 8th, and told her that her daughter was in the bed sick. When she arrived home after her shift at around 7:45 a.m., her and Shackleford reportedly began arguing. That was when Shackleford led her to her child’s empty bedroom and told her that he’d taken her to New York, where she was safe. The woman said Shackleford then raped her before forcing her to go to the Wyndham Lancaster Hotel with him.
The report did not detail how Shackleford killed the child. A date for Shackleford’s next court appearance was not reported.
