Three suspects are reportedly in custody in connection to the shooting of a police officer in West Philadelphia on February 8th, 2023.

According to a report from 6 ABC Action News, the incident began when police stopped a car with three people inside, near 60th & Summer Streets in West Philly at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Two officers reportedly approached the vehicle during a routine traffic stop. At some point, a passenger got of the vehicle and then got into a struggle with one of the cops. The suspect reportedly fired, striking the officer twice in the abdomen, right under the police vest he was wearing. The 2nd officer fired back, before rendering aid to his wounded partner. The three suspects ran off.
The wounded police officer was rushed to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital by his partner. He was originally admitted in critical condition, but has been upgraded to stable condition since the initial report last night.
Two of the suspects were reportedly apprehended a short time after the shooting . The 3rd suspect, who police believe to be the alleged shooter, was arrested on the 6800 block of Guyer Avenue in Southwest Philly, later on the same night.
Pending criminal charges against the three suspects have not been announced to the public at this time.
