An unidentified man reported to be in his 30’s, was killed during a hit-and-run crash in the Nicetown/Tioga section of the city last night.

A report from 6 ABC Action News said the incident happened at 18th & Clarissa Streets at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
The male victim was reportedly thrown about 200 feet upon impact. He died at the scene. According to police, the victim was hit by a speeding Tesla.
“Our victim was crossing Hunting Park mid-block, walking from the southside to the northside. He was on foot, that’s when he got struck by the Tesla”, said Phila. Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
The damaged Tesla was found parked on the 4100 block of Clarissa Street a short time later. The car had a NJ license plate, and was registered to a resident who lived in New Jersey. Police said the Tesla was not reported stolen. The driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found. The suspect eventually surrendered to police at the 39th Police District at around 8:30 p.m., two hours after the crash.
No charges have been filed against the suspect at this time.
