Five Memphis Police Officers have been charged with murder and other charges in the beating death of 29-year old Tyre Nichols, during a traffic stop in Memphis on January 7th.
A report from ABC News said the officers all voluntarily turned themselves in to authorities and are currently in custody, according to the Shelby County, TN jail records. The five officers have been identified as Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith. All five police officers are black.
The Shelby County District Attorney’s announced a press conference to be held today at around 3 p.m. est.
