Miles, a forward with the basketball team, was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail at around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday evening, according to a report from ESPN. Alabama has since announced that Miles is no longer part of the team.

Police said the shooting happened near The Strip, right off of University Boulevard, not far from the main campus at around 1:45 a.m. According to the police report, campus police were approached by a man while they were on post near Bryant-Denny Stadium. The man said someone had fired shots into his car and he fired back. Harris, who was a passenger in the car, was hit by gunfire. One of the suspects were also shot. He was reportedly taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police said that neither Harris or the driver of the vehicle had any affiliation with the school.

“At this time it appears that the only motive was a minor altercation that these individuals had with the victim as the were out on The Strip. They did not have a previous relationship”, said Tuscaloosa Police Capt., Jack Kennedy.

No word was given on Miles next court date.
