Five correctional officers at CFCF are alleged to have attacked an inmate during a strip search at the jail in 2020. One of those officers, 42-year old, Ronald C. Granville, pleaded guilty to a Civil Rights charge and a charge of submitting false reports related to this incident, in a federal courtroom on Monday.
A report from The Philly Voice said the assault on the inmate happened on October 6th, 2020 at the CFCF jail in Northeast Philly. The indictment said the detainee was escorted to his cell by five corrections officers who ordered the inmate to remove his clothing once he was inside of the cell. According to Granville himself, the detainee was assaulted by the corrections officers after complying with their orders and removing his clothes. The inmate required emergency surgery after being beaten by the corrections officers, who are alleged to have caused injuries to the man’s face, ribs, and scrotum.
In the months that followed, the five corrections officers are accused of submitting multiple false reports about the incident in question. Granville is facing up to 30-years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000 for his role in the assault, when he is sentenced on April 25th, 2023.
The other four corrections officers are reportedly under FBI investigation at the moment.
