CARJACKING VICTIM IN CRITICAL CONDITION & SUSPECT KILLED AFTER CRASH IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

An attempted carjacking in downtown Chicago earlier this week, during rush hour, reportedly ended in a deadly car crash that left one of the jacking suspects dead and the victim in critical condition.

A report from CBS-Chicago said the incident happened at Lake Street & Wabash Avenue at around 5:42 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

A male and female teen reportedly entered the female victim’s Infinity X35 as she waited at the stoplight. A struggled between the victim and suspects began while all three were inside of the vehicle. The victim stepped on the gas and the vehicle sped off, before ultimately hitting a support column. All three ended up trapped inside of the vehicle after the violent crash.

All three were taken to nearby hospitals. The male teen, who has been identified as 18-year old, Elijah Treadwell, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Hospital shortly after arriving. The 17-year old female teen suspect was also rushed to Northwestern, and was last reported to be in critical condition. The 35-year old victim was also last reported to be in critical condition. She was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County.

The teen is in the hospital under arrest, and charges are pending.
