The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office announced the arrests of multiple members of what police labeled as a gang. A report from Fox-29 Philadelphia said 20-year old, alleged member of “46th Street Boys” and “o2da4”, was arrested along with 22-year old, Jalen Mickens in connection to the murders of Salahaldin Mahmoud and 23-year old Sicarr Johnson. The pair are also charged with wounding two other victims during the 4th of July 2021 shooting on the 100 block of South 60th Street in West Philly.
Multiple other shootings in West and Southwest Philly were credited to an ongoing feud between two groups of various gangs. One of those shootings included the death of a 15-year old in March of 2021. According to the D.A.’s Office, the gangs are small groups of friends who are associated with certain blocks. According to the D.A.’s office, the gangs commit violent acts and shootings against one another and then brag about their deeds in rap videos on YouTube and multiple social media sites.
“They’ll mock the deceased member or friends of these individuals, and then at that point, it’s motivation for a retaliatory shooting. It goes, frankly, back-and-fourth until these individuals are taken into custody”, said Assistant District Attorney, Jeffery Palmer on Monday afternoon.
Also charged in connection to crimes ranging from murder to tampering with public records were: Tyheed Cooper, Kimberly Johnson, Fabian Creary, Calvin Gatewood, Nasir Wells, and Ahmir Johnson.
