WNBA star, Brittney Griner was freed during what the Associated Press described as a, “high-level prisoner exchange” between the United States and Russia on Thursday. Griner was reportedly traded for convicted Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout.
President Biden made a very brief statement regarding Griner’s release this afternoon
“She’s safe, she’s on a plane, she on her way home”, President Biden said from the White House podium, accompanied by Vice President, Kamala Harris, and Griner’s wife, Cherelle.
