DRIVE BY SHOOTING IN NORTH PHILLY LEAVES 1 DEAD & 1 INJURED

A man was killed and another man was injured during a drive-by shooting in the Hunting Park section of the city last night. A 6-ABC Action News report said the shooting happened on the 1300 block of Somerset Street near Park Avenue at around 11 p.m. on Thursday night.

According to police, two 25-year old men were sitting inside of a parked GMC Yukon SUV when a vehicle pulled up alongside the Yukon. Someone inside of the car fired multiple shots at the passenger’s side window of the SUV and then drove off. Between 10 and 15 shots were reportedly fired during the incident.

The passenger in the SUV was hit in the torso multiple times. The driver was shot in the leg and back. He managed to drive himself to Temple University Hospital after being shot. The passenger was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The driver of the SUV was last reported to be in stable condition. A motive for the shooting was not reported.

No suspects were named and no arrests have been made at this time.
