A 41-year old, unidentified male suspect reportedly engaged in a shootout with Septa Police after he was spotted firing shots at multiple people standing on a South Philly corner from inside of a car this morning. A Fox-29 Philly report said the incident happened on the corner of 11th & Ellsworth Streets on Tuesday morning.

A 20-year old woman was reportedly struck throughout the body a total of 10 times, according to police. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Two Septa Police Officers were reportedly driving behind the suspect and attempted to pull him over. That’s when police say the officers and suspect exchanged gunfire, leaving the suspect with two gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was last reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the suspect is in custody and a weapon has been recovered.
