According to a report from the Associated Press, Reid was charged for an incident that took place last year. Reid pleaded guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury back in September. The charges carried a maximum penalty of 7-years in prison. Prosecutors asked for four years in prison. Reid’s defense team asked for probation.

Circuit Judge Charles H. Mckenzie went below the prosecutors’ recommendation by a year. Reid was taken into custody to begin serving his 3-year prison term immediately after he was sentenced by the judge.

Britt Reid is the son of current Kansas City Chiefs and former Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach, Andy Reid.
