A juvenile female is reportedly in critical condition as a result of a house fire in the Kensington section of the city earlier this week. A 6 ABC Action News report said firefighters were called to a home on the 3100 block of Custer Street at around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Fire crews arrived at the scene within four minutes of the call, according to the report. The unidentified girl was reportedly trapped inside of a second-floor bedroom when they arrived. Witnesses said it took the firefighters several minutes to battle their way through the house fire and upstairs to the second floor bedroom, where the child was found.

Firefighters said they believe the juvenile was the only person home at the time of the fire. One other home on the block was reported damaged. The child was taken to St.Christopher’s Hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
