SIX PHILADELPHIA AREA RESIDENTS CHARGED IN $1 MILLION COVID PUA UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD CASE

The names of six Philadelphia-area residents who were charged with various Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Fraud (PUA) related offenses in two separate indictments, were announced this morning (Wednesday) by United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero, according to a report from Insurance News.net

41-year old, Wylene Johnson from Chester, P.A.; 41-year old, Cookie Bundy from Philly; 42-year old, Hakeem Cooper from Philly; 42-year old, Louis Barnett from Philly; and 33-year old, Barry Mitchell from Philly, were each charged with four counts of mail fraud and one count of theft of government money. Bundy and Mitchell were also charged with firearm offenses for firearms found at their respective residences when the Feds came to arrest them for the PUA fraud.

In a separate indictment, 32-year old, Tameka Edmonds from Marcus Hook, P.A., was charged with three counts of mail fraud and three counts of theft of government money, for allegedly submitting fraudulent PUA, EIDL, and PPP applications.

The next court date for the defendants was not reported.
