A man was shot and killed in the Fairmount section of the city last night during what police say was an attempted robbery gone bad. A Fox-29 Philly report said the incident happened on the 2700 block of Swain Street at around 9 p.m. on Thursday night.

First arriving police officers at the scene reported finding a 26-year old man who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and left hand, when they arrived at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Investigators believe the motive for the shooting was an attempted robbery. They did not elaborate any further.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
