A man was reportedly shot more than a dozen times outside of a bar in West Philadelphia last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened at 62nd & Market Streets at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
First responding police officers at the scene did not find a victim upon arrival. Shortly afterward, they were notified that the 37-year old male victim had been rushed to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital via private vehicle. The victim was reportedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and torso. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Witnesses said the victim was shot as he sat in the passenger’s seat of a car parked in front of the bar. The shooter reportedly walked up to the car’s window and pumped several shots at the victim.
“Based on the crime scene we know at least 14-shots were fired from a semi-automatic weapon”, said Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Investigators said someone jumped into the driver’s seat of the car and rushed the victim to the hospital after the shooting. Witnesses said both the victim and alleged shooter were in the bar earlier in the night, and did not appear to have any beef with one another.
Police said they know who they are looking for, thanks to the bar’s surveillance cameras. No arrests have been made at this time.
