A security officer was reportedly shot while working the South Street Festival over the weekend. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened at 7th & South Streets at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
Investigators said a woman driving a “slingshot” vehicle got into an argument with a woman working as a vendor at the festival. The two women then got into a physical fight. Security officers stepped in to break up the fight. The woman then reportedly went back to the “slingshot” and got in the passenger’s side. The male driver of the slingshot reportedly fired multiple shots at that point, before fleeing the scene. The 40-year old security guard was hit in an undisclosed location on the body. He was rushed to the hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition.
No arrests have been made at this time.
