MAN KILLED IN NORTH PHILLY DRIVE-BY WHILE LEAVING WORK

A 33-year old man who had just left work was reportedly shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in North Philadelphia last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 2200 block of West Berks Street at around 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

First responding police officers at the scene found the victim in the front passenger seat of a Ford SUV. He was reportedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators said the victim’s family owned a variety store not far from the location where the victim was shot. The victim and family6 members closed the store for the night, before he headed to his parked SUV. Investigators said as the victim entered the front passenger’s seat, a sedan traveling Eastbound on Berks Street, fired several shots at the victim. The victim was hit in the head, chest, and torso.

Investigators said they believe the victim was the intended target of the shooting, but did not elaborate any further. The incident was captured on surveillance camera. Investigators said they are reviewing the footage.

No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
