A 20-year old man was reportedly shot and critically wounded in the Mayfair section of the city last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened at Gilham Street & Frankford Avenue at around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday night.
First responding police officers at the scene reported finding the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, before being reported in critical condition.
Investigators said a private surveillance camera captured the entire incident.
“We believe the victim and the shooter were engaged in a conversation just before the shooting took place. Whether or not the victim and shooter know each other, we’re not sure, but they were clearly talking to each other just minutes before the shots were fired”, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
Three spent shell casings were found at the scene. No motive has been revealed at this time, and no arrests have been made yet.
