A teenager reportedly shot and killed his grandfather inside of a home in the West Oak Lane section of the city last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident on the 1400 block of East Sharpnack Street near Williams Avenue at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Police responded to a call for a shooting at the address. First responding officers at the scene found the 58-year old victim in the living room, lying on his back. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The grandson/suspect remained at the scene after the shooting. He was taken into custody by police. Family members said the shooting was the result of the two arguing, before the arguing escalated to a fist fight, and ended with the grandfather shot in the back by the teen. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the home. Police did not say if that was the murder weapon.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing..
