3 PHILLY SWAT OFFICERS SHOT WHILE SERVING WARRANT IN NORTH PHILLY; SUSPECT KILLED

Three SWAT officers were wounded while attempting to serve a warrant in North Philadelphia early this morning. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 800 block of 10th Street near Brown Street at around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the 19-year old suspect was wanted for homicide and other violent offenses. When SWAT attempted to breach the front door, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee the home through the back door, where he encountered more SWAT officers. He reportedly fired at the officers in the backyard, hitting three. Police fired back.

One officer was shot in the hip. A second officer was shot in the leg, and the third officer was shot in the chest. All three SWAT officers were taken to Jefferson University Hospital where they were last reported to be in stable condition. The 19-year old suspect was reportedly shot in the shootout with police. He was also taken to Jefferson University where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A few minutes after the shooting, police reportedly took two adult males into custody. No word on if they were being charged with anything.
