A 13-year old has died after being shot multiple times in the Ogontz section of the city last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 6500 block of North Smedley Street at around 6:45 p.m. on Monday evening.
First responding police officers at the scene found the teen victim lying on the sidewalk when they arrived. He’d been shot in the head and face multiple times. Police rushed the teen to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The 8th grader at Wagner Middle School ,was reportedly hanging out at the intersection with friends when the shooting began.
“We’re not certain if he was struck by stray gunfire – but who and why someone would shoot a teenager intentionally, it’s unknown why someone would do that to someone so young”, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined or revealed by police at this time. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time either.
