L.A. rapper “Half Ounce” was reportedly shot and killed while walking down the street earlier this week. A report from People Magazine said Los Angeles Police received numerous calls for an incident where shots had been fired on the 700 block of South Hampshire Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night.
First responding police officers at the scene reported finding the victim, 32-year old, Latariisha O’brien A.K.A. Half Ounce, shot in front of an apartment building on the block. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said at least a dozen shots were fired.
O’brien was reportedly walking down the street with a friend, and on the phone talking to his girlfriend, who is currently pregnant with his fourth child, when an SUV pulled up. The passenger in the vehicle reportedly began firing shots at both men. Obrien’s friend managed to flee the scene. Police were still trying to contact him as of this morning.
No arrests have been made, but police said they do have a description of the alleged shooter.
