The U.S. Embassy in Russia is reportedly urging all American citizens to leave the country. The U.S. Embassy is also urging Americans not to travel to Russia. According to a report from The Hill, the announcement comes after Russia President, Vladimir Putin ordered a call-up to 300,000 reservists to aid depleted forces in Ukraine.
The Embassy made the announcement on Wednesday morning in a security alert. The announcement also warned that Russia may prevent U.S. citizens from leaving the country.
This marks the first time Russia has had a “call-up” of reservists since World War II. Putin made the announcement after Ukraine’s counter-offensive strike, which helped Ukraine regain control of thousands of kilometers of territory previously taken over and occupied by Russian troops.
