18-year old, Samir Smith, was officially charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple weapons offenses for firing a shot at a group of people inside of the Fashion District Mall (The Gallery) on Tuesday evening. A Fox-29 Philly report said Smith and another person were reportedly arguing with a group of people inside of the mall at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Smith left the group and then allegedly turned and fired a single shot at the group as he exited the building.

One man was injured by shrapnel after the bullet ricocheted off of a granite wall. Police said the ammo clip in Smith’s gun fell out during the shooting, which investigators believe prevented more shots from being fired.

Smith was apprehended a short time after the shooting on the 100 block of North 10th Street.
