45-year old, Clark County Public Administrator, Robert Telles, was taken into custody by Las Vegas Police (LVPD) after a search warrant was served at his home on Wednesday afternoon. A NBC News report said the search warrant of Telles home was in relation to the murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter, Jeff German.
69-year old, Jeff German was reportedly found stabbed to death outside of his home in Bronze Circle on Saturday. Police believe German was killed at some point on Friday. The official report from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical examiner said German died of “multiple sharp force injuries”.
German had recently reported of bullying and favoritism in Telles office.
“The arrest of Robert Telles is at once an enormous relief and outrage for the Review-Journal newsroom. We are relieved Robert Telles is in custody and outraged that a colleague appears to have been killed for reporting on an elected official. Journalists can’t do the important work our communities require if they are afraid a presentation of facts could lead to violent retribution,” said Executive Editor at the Review-Journal, Glenn Cook.
