A 220-count indictment filed on August 22nd, have charged 26 defendants in connection with multiple break-ins, home invasions, and robberies in the Atlanta, Georgia area, that prosecutors said began in 2016. An NBC News report said the crimes were committed by 26 alleged members of an Atlanta-based gang who goes by the name of “The Drug Rich Gang.” (DRG)
According to Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, DRG not only targeted celebrities, they targeted influencers and others for home invasions and burglaries via their Instagram pages.
“What they do is target people who show their wealth on social media. So I do have a message for the public: Where it is kind of fun to put your things on Instagram and show off, unfortunately these gangs are becoming more savvy, more sophisticated in the way they target you”, Willis said at a press conference on Monday.
Among the victimized celebrities were Mariah Carey, Real Housewives Of ATL-Marlo Hampton, Atlanta United Goalie-Brad Guzan, and Atlanta Falcons WR-Calvin Ridley.
