A 71-year old woman was reportedly hit & killed by a Septa bus in the Germantown section of the city last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 100 block of West Walnut Lane & Greene Street a little before 9:30 on Wednesday night.
The victim was reportedly walking in the crosswalk, Southbound across Greene Street, when a Septa bus traveling Eastbound on Walnut Lane, hit the woman with the passenger side front corner of the bus, causing the victim to fall to the ground. Police said the woman was dragged from the intersection by the bus after being hit by it.
“She had been dragged a considerable distance; in fact, one of her shoes is close to the intersection and another is approximately 50 to 60 feet down the road. Based on the evidence on scene, it does appear that she was dragged”, said Philadelphia Police Inspector, D.F. Pace.
The victim was found lying in the road by first responders. She was unresponsive and CPR was performed on the victim at the scene. She was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
