BLOCK CAPTAIN CRITICALLY WOUNDED AFTER BEING SHOT BY ALLEGED CATALYTIC CONVERTER THIEF

A man was reported shot after confronting three suspects who were in the middle of stealing a catalytic converter from a van in the Mt. Airy section of the city early this morning. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened on the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The 58-year old victim, who is reportedly the block captain, along with the owner of the van, approached the suspects as they were in the middle of attempting to strip the van. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the block captain in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition. The suspects reportedly fled the scene after the shooting.

No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
