2 DEAD & 8 INJURED IN 4 SEPARATE SHOOTINGS IN PHILLY ON FRIDAY

A violent beginning to the weekend saw 10 people shot in the city of Philadelphia yesterday. Two of the 10 died as a result of their injuries according to a 6 ABC Action News report.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a 75-year old man was shot on the 900 block of Girard Avenue in North Philly. The 75-year old victim was rushed to the hospital and last reported to be in stable condition. The victim was reportedly “just driving by” when he was hit by gunfire as others were being shot at nearby. “The others” included a 25 & 31-year old men. There was no words where on the body, or how many times the two victims were shot. The 25-year old victim was taken to the hospital where he was last reported to be in stable condition. The 31-year old victim was last reported to be in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Shortly after 5 p.m. police responded to a call of a shooting at Godfrey Avenue & Limekiln Pike in the Olney section of the city. A man reported to be in his 20’s by a gunman who walked up on the victims car and opened fire while the victim was double parked. The victim was shot twice in the head as he attempted to flee the gunfire. The victim managed to drive away after being shot, but crashed his car a short distance away from where he was shot. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Police were called to the 5300 block of Charles Street in the Wissinoming section of the city at around 7:30 p.m. First arriving police officers found four shooting victims inside of a home on the block. The four victims were reportedly a 32-year old woman, a 39-year old man, a 33-year old man, and another male victim reported to be in his 30’s. The report didn’t say where on the body or how many times the victims were shot, but the report did say, three of the four victims are currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to a call of a shooting on the 2600 block of North Bouvier Street in North Philly. First arriving police officer on the scene reported finding a woman and a man who’d both been shot, upon arrival. The woman was shot in the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and last reported to be in critical condition. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not report any word about a possible motive for any of the Friday shootings. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made in any of the shootings at this time.
