A 1-year old girl was reportedly shot in the hand during a wedding celebration/party in the Kensington section of the city yesterday. A 6 ABC Action News report said the incident happened at East Ontario & Emerald Streets at around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

According to the report, a fight broke out during the celebration. The fight reportedly escalated pretty quickly.
“One of the individuals, part of that altercation, pulled out a handgun and fired approximately four shots”, said Philadelphia Police Department’s Lt., Robert Brockenburgh.
One of the four shots fired hit the one-year old in the hand. The child was being held by her mother when she was shot. The mother was not hurt during the shooting.
The 1-year old victim was rushed to St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital, where she was last reported to be in stable condition.
The shooter reportedly fled the scene after the shooting, however, police say the alleged shooter is known to the victim’s family.
