A 54-year old woman was reportedly shot and killed in the West Philly section of the city late last night. A 6 ABC Action News report said police were called to 46th Street & Fairmount Avenue at around 11 p.m. on Thursday night.
First responding police officers on the scene reported finding the female victim lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. She was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Investigators found no shell casings at the scene, but did recover a pair of shoes that investigators believe belongs to the victim, and three cellphones, one of which investigators are hoping belongs to the suspected shooter. Police also reported finding a ransacked home nearby believed to be the victim’s. Investigators are hoping nearby surveillance cameras captured the murder. No motive for the killing has been revealed.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
