A 20-year old woman is dead after being shot inside of her boyfriend’s house in the Tioga section of the city early this morning. A CBS-3 Philly report said the incident happened on the 3700 block of 17th Street at around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.
First responding officers at the scene reported finding a crime scene when they arrived, but no victim. Police were eventually notified that the victim had been rushed to the hospital by private vehicle. She was reportedly suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back of the neck. The 20-year old victim died at the hospital shortly after arriving.
Back at the house, police investigators found a spent shell casing near the front door, and blood believed to be the victim’s. Feet away from the shell casing and blood, investigators found a semi-automatic handgun on the 1st floor of the home. Police believe the shooting was domestic-related.
The boyfriend, reported to be in his early 20’s, was taken into custody by police. He was reportedly cooperating with the investigation. No official charges have been filed at this time.
