35-year old, Albert Laylo, who is a lawyer in the Philippines, was killed in Philadelphia over the weekend, as he and his mother were heading to Philadelphia International Airport to catch their flight. According to a 6 ABC Action News report, Laylo and his mother had been in Philadelphia since June 9, visiting the city. The Uber that Laylo and his mother were traveling in was ambushed by a lone gunman at around 4 a.m. near 38th & Spruce Streets early on Saturday morning.
Police said a black vehicle came up from behind and fired several shots into the Uber Laylo and his mother were traveling in. The gunman then reportedly pulled up on the driver’s side of the car and fired several additional shots inside of the vehicle.
Laylo was shot in the head. He died as a result of his injuries on Sunday. Laylo’s mother, who was also reportedly injured in the ambush, was rushed to the hospital. There was no word on her condition.
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
